Report on the 9-11 Rally, March/Parade to the 6th Annual 9-11 Power to the Peaceful Concert

Over a hundred people rallied at the Panhandle on September 11th, including press, photographers, and videographers. Frank Runninghorse from the Northern California 9-11 Truth Alliance, created a makeshift stage and brought hundreds of picket signs, a large banner, and a blowhorn to kick-off the rally.

Better late than never, Gypsy Taub and I, emerged miraculously with four other people, the sound system, a boom box, two more banners, more signs, a case of Deception Dollars and flyers, a bag of whistles, a giant stroller, from a highly decorated, illegally overloaded, tiny car.

Green Party candidates, Pat Gray and Terry Baum each spoke echoing their Party’s call for a genuine investigation of 9-11 and raised the questions that the “official Commission” failed to answer. Many people helped to pass out the whistles, Deception Dollars, and flyers to marchers, and the crowds along our path.

Interspersed amongst the speeches were songs, and observations from a stand-up comic lambasting the Powers-That-Be. I addressed “Why We Were Marching”-

“Two years ago, we marched under the banner “Bush Did It!;” we actually didn’t know with certainty what Bush’s role was in the drama of the September 11th attacks, but we knew that he was lying about the attacks, and using them to pursue war, and to attack our civil liberties, through the PATRIOT Act, and Homeland Security, which was mirrored in legislation passed in other countries throughout the world, allowing governments to rename those opposed to government or corporate policies to be “domestic terrorists.”

“Last year, our theme was “Impeach the Terrorists!,” which succinctly expressed what we had learned, that the real terrorists were the top U.S. officials who orchestrated 9-11, and used it to gain public support for their imperial wars, to increase their power, and to fund their drive for global conquest, as outlined by the Project for a New American Century, and Vision 2020, the militarization of space.

“This year we have expanded our theme to encompass the new revelations, and the very frightening legislation that the 9-11 Commission, Bush, Kerry, and Congress are trying push through before the election, and before people have a clue about what is really going on.

“Many books, documentaries have been produced in the past few years; citizen organized Inquiries into 9-11 have left little doubt that “the official narrative” is “the wildest conspiracy theory of all” and that the evidence points to a cover-up, the destruction of evidence, lying at the highest levels of government, and official complicity.

“As the government has shrouded itself in secrecy, and exerted “National Security” to hide what they knew, and what they did, while intimidating everyone else with a “Total Information Awareness” agency, unfettered access to people’s homes, financial information, library records, it has been difficult to penetrate the layers of obfuscation to figure out what actually happened on September 11th. Who actually planned, and pulled off the attacks, and for what purpose? Who had the motivation, the means, and the ability to cover it up?

Michael C. Ruppert, ex Narcotics Investigator with the LAPD, spoke recently in San Francisco, detailing the main points in his new book, Crossing the Rubicon- The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil. He said-

'“I will name Vice President Richard Cheney as the prime suspect in the mass murders of 9/11 and will establish that, not only was he a planner in the attacks, but also that on the day of the attacks he was running a completely separate Command, Control and Communications system which was superceding any orders being issued by the FAA, the Pentagon, or the White House Situation Room;

'”I will establish conclusively that in May of 2001, by presidential order, Richard Cheney was put in direct command and control of all wargame and field exercise training and scheduling through several agencies, especially FEMA. This also extended to all of the conflicting and overlapping NORAD drills -- some involving hijack simulations -- taking place on that day.

'”I will also demonstrate that the TRIPOD II exercise being set up on Sept. 10th in Manhattan was directly connected to Cheney's role in the above.

'”I will also prove conclusively that a number of public officials, at the national and New York City levels, including then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, were aware that flight 175 was en route to lower Manhattan for 20 minutes and did nothing to order the evacuation of, or warn the occupants of the South Tower. One military officer was forced to leave his post in the middle of the attacks and place a private call to his brother - who worked at the WTC - warning him to get out. That was because no other part of the system was taking action.

'”I will also show that the Israeli and British governments acted as partners with the highest levels of the American government to help in the preparation and, very possibly, the actual execution of the attacks."'- end of Ruppert quote.

“While Ruppert emphasizes “Peak Oil” as the catalyst for a desperate cabal to secure strategic control over the world’s remaining oil supplies, I believe that the global elite simply were afraid that they were losing power, and used the traditional methods of war and terrorism to frighten people into going along with their agenda.

“Aung Sung Suu Kyi wrote: "It is not power that corrupts, but fear -- fear of losing power and fear of the scourge of those who wield it."

“The antidote for fear is truth, courage and love. We cannot allow our government to terrorize us and the rest of the world. We must speak truth to power, expose the crimes of those holding office. We must not allow the Cover-Up Commission or Congress to use 9-11 to expand the “National Security State” into a “Global Security State” which could more seamlessly orchestrate terrorist attacks to secure elite control over the world’s resources. True security depends upon healthy relationships between people and between people and planet; false security hinges upon a Police State protecting the wealthy from the injustices wracked upon the global majority.

“We are marching to show that we are not afraid; we believe in the power of truth, peace, justice. We are marching against the Lies, the Crimes, the 9-11 Cover-Up. We are marching for truth, for peace, for compassionate impeachment. We are marching to repeal the PATRIOT Act, to stop the Global Police State. We are marching because we can march; we are marching for others who cannot be here, but share our hopes and desires to live freely in a peaceful, just world.”

We then played an excerpt from Ruppert’s speech at the Commonwealth Club, via the boombox, amplified by the sound system,and the blowhorn, so that everyone could hear it.

Our fifteen minute rally lasted a full hour, but what we lacked in punctuality, we made up for in spirit and volume. The two mile march/parade up Ashbury, down Haight Street and through Golden Gate Park was great fun! People cheered us! We blew the whistles, spoke, chanted, sang. We had drummers, guitars, and some fantastic singers. It was a beautiful day. We neglected to get a permit, and when the police surrounded us, they very gently guided us to the correct side of the road and escorted us through the Park, treating us more like royalty than a bunch of rabble rousers.

We were warmly welcomed at the 6th Annual Power to the Peaceful Concert, where people eagerly took fliers, Deception Dollars, added our signs to the colorful fence which was a collage of political, spiritual, and artistic expression. The 9-11 Truth Alliance table, beneath the trees with the 8’ by 4’ Deception Dollar Banner, was, again, the rallying point for activists, who folded 5000 of our four page fliers, and continued to pass out fliers and Deception Dollars throughout the crowd all day long.

With the 9-11 Truth Speakout at the UN Plaza, the 9-11 Film Festival in Berkeley, the 9-11 Truth Convergence Conference in Marin happening at the same time as our rally and march, we realized that our numbers were the tip of an iceberg. Reports of well attended 9-11 events in Santa Barbara, Washington DC, New York City,and elsewhere reflect a vast and growing movement.
